Nicky Jam is a Dominican Republic rapper and record producer. He was born in Santiago de los Caballeros, but grew up in the Dominican Republic's capital of Santo Domingo. After becoming involved in music, he began recording with Wyclef Jean and Daddy Yankee. In 2007, he released his debut album under the alias "Nicky Jam." The album produced two hit singles: "Papi" and "Vivir Mi Vida," which peaked at number one on the US Hot Latin Songs chart. On 1 January 2017, Nicky Jam was named as a United Nations Messenger of Peace for "his personal dedication to promote peace and social inclusion", amongst other attributes. Author: Nora Roberts
